Welcome!

Do you ramble on and on in the description of your art, talking about the storyline that you are trying to express, the series of events that gave you the idea, or the long and intricate process you used to create the piece?

Do you like to READ the stories behind the artwork of others? Do you appreciate it when someone takes the time to explain exactly how or why they made a piece, or what it is supposed to mean?

Join us. Tell us about your art.

This group is for finding and sharing artwork with a backstory. Any kind of backstory is fine:

  • conceptual backstory: the description explains what the piece represents, who or what is shown, or what is going on.
  • character backstory: the description gives an in-depth description of the character shown in the piece (this is sort of a type of conceptual backstory, that focuses on character description only).
  • historical backstory: the description explains how you came up with the idea, what events or thoughts lead up to its creation, or what phases or changes it went through during creation.
  • technical backstory: the description explains in detail what tools or techniques were used to create the piece, what technical challenges there were or what the technical goal or focus of the piece was.

Regardless of the type of backstory, pieces in this group should have a long, detailed description. This is your change to ramble, and to learn about the "behind the scenes" thoughts of other people's artwork.

SUBMISSION RULES:

You have to have at least 180 words in the description of the artwork, explaining the story behind the piece (in any of the four categories above: the concept of the piece, the character in the piece, the history of the piece, or the technical aspects of the piece).

Try to get the folder generally right, although we won't be super uptight about this. We know that many of you who write long descriptions talk about multiple things: how you came up with the idea, what it represents, and what tools and techniques you used to make it. Just pick the folder that you think fits the best.
Ok yes, you've always been able to submit art here so long as it met the group's guidelines. But it's founder is rarely around and I've been the one primarily watching it's administrative activities. DeviantART I learned yesterday has finally ironed out the bug that was preventing me from checking the word count on incoming deviants to this group. I got to approve a piece for the first time in months last night to here. So guys enjoy and submit! Also since this group has not been as active as it should have been over the last few months, I encourage you if the work meets the guidelines to be accepted here, please re-submit your work. I look forward to reviewing your pieces right and hopefully entering them into the group's folders :).

Why did you let the piece I presented to the group, expire? It's word count over met what's required for it to fit in here, and I'm sure I picked the right folder for it.

Ooops.... a bunch of things expired, because I went on a 14 day vacation and failed to set up a "backup" person for managing this group.

HEY... would you like to help out? Send me a private note if you're interested, and I'll make you a co-founder. The rules are pretty simple, as you know. It would be nice to have someone to help me out, in case I go on vacation again! LOL

I decided to re-submit "tears for the naive" because I finally wrote more under it. It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted it to be, but I think it explains the piece better and I'm satisfied with the end result, and it does reach the requirements as well lol

Thanks for the request of China keep your dick out of art, Free Wei Wei. He is still in prison and even in Hong Kong the police are arresting protest leaders. Mind you that theses protesters art/activist are the result of the austerity imposed on the generation from the cultural revoltion, Wei Wei is a product of the detention camps of hard labor for being an "intellectuals" son. Wei Wei has no fear to speak out, i dont think we should either. Be Indecent Too!

I absolutely agree with the message of your piece! I also liked that you went into detail in your description to explain to people everything behind it.

I'm glad you joined this group! Any time you have a piece where you have a detailed description that explains the background or idea of a piece, we want to exhibit it here!
